"Peace, Poverty, and Planet Earth: Exploring Resources for a Sustainable Future" - July 12-14, 2010 on the campus of Oklahoma City University. Co-sponsored by Oikos and the Institute of Cultural Affairs-USA.
Sponsored by the Oikos Scholars Program at Oklahoma City University and the Institute of Cultural Affairs – USA, this three-day gathering will focus on ways higher education can (1) engage students and society as a whole with the most pressing social and ecological challenges of the 21st century and (2) help educate and develop moral leaders in relation to the issues of peacemaking, social justice and ecological sustainability. Through a combination of inspiring and challenging plenary speakers and track sessions allowing for group work on peace, poverty and planet Earth, the gathering seeks to contribute to curricular and co-curricular resources that foster a more sustainable future.
Registration fee is $125, which also covers meals during the event. Lodging is available for $22 per night in Centennial Hall on the campus of Oklahoma City University.
Plenary Speakers include: David Rowe, President of Centenary College; Larry Ward, Director of the Lotus Institute; and Amy Maglio, Executive Director of the Women's Global Education Project.
